In brief
- DII is published by High Intent Media Inc, a privately held company owned by its founders.
- It is free to read. It is paid for by advertising, sponsorship, paid directory listings and events.
- Our owners are connected to six businesses in the dating industry. Any story that mentions one says so.
- No advertiser, sponsor or connected business sees a story before it is published.

Businesses connected to our owners
DII's owners have worked in online dating for many years and are connected to these businesses, which operate in the industry we cover:
- Venntro
- Fortitude
- DatingAPI
- WhichDating
- Smooch
- WhiteLabelDating
Because of that, we follow three rules:
- Any story that mentions one of these businesses says so in the story: "DII is published by High Intent Media; [name] is connected to DII's owners."
- Those stories are held for the editor and are never published automatically.
- None of these businesses sees our coverage in advance or has any say over it, and we do not use DII to promote them.
How DII is paid for
Everything on DII is free to read, with no paywall. The site is paid for by:
- Advertising and sponsorship: display advertising on the site and sponsored placements in the Briefing, each labelled as such.
- Directory listings: companies can pay for an enhanced listing in our directory. A paid listing has no bearing on our news coverage.
- Events and research partnerships: where a partner pays towards an event or a piece of research, the partner is named on it.
We do not take donations or reader subscriptions.
Keeping commercial and editorial apart
Advertisers, sponsors, directory customers and event partners have no advance sight of our coverage and no right to approve it. Paying DII does not earn a company a story, and it does not stop one.
If a company in a news story is also a paying customer of DII, the story says so. Sponsored content, if we publish any, is labelled at the top and its links are marked as sponsored. Affiliate links, where we use them, are labelled where they appear.
