• The Golden Mill in Golden, Colorado said on 23 October it had not approved a '400+ person gathering' planned for 24 October.
  • Unjected moved its Denver Singles Mixer to The Grizzly Rose, 6pm to 9pm on 24 October, according to its own post.
  • Unjected said at least 400 people had contacted it to attend.
  • A motion to dismiss founder Shelby Hosana's discrimination suit against Recess Beer Garden is pending, according to the Denver Gazette.

The Golden Mill food hall in Golden, Colorado, said on 23 October that it had not known of or approved a '400+ person gathering' planned for the next day, an event Westword and the Denver Gazette linked to the anti-vaccine dating app Unjected. The venue's Instagram post did not name Unjected. On 24 October, Unjected said in its own Substack post that its Denver Singles Mixer was moving to The Grizzly Rose in Denver that evening.

It is the second time in 2026 that a Colorado venue has distanced itself from the app's plans, according to the Denver Gazette.

The DII Take

Whatever one thinks of Unjected's politics, the venue's account describes an event-logistics failure. Unjected announced a headline number on 21 October while keeping the location secret, and The Golden Mill says it was never informed. Offline events are a real acquisition channel for niche dating brands, but they only work when the venue has agreed before the promotion starts.

The venue says there was no contract and no security

Westword quoted The Golden Mill's post as saying: 'The organizers promoted this event through private channels without our knowledge or consent.' The Denver Gazette quoted it saying any large event 'requires a contract, event plan, security consideration, and prior authorization, none of which exist for this gathering.' The venue said operations would run as normal on Saturday, with no private events and a peaceful Golden police presence, according to the Denver Gazette.

Hosana posted on Instagram that 'The Golden Mill let us know we’re not welcome,' according to the Denver Gazette. Westword's updated article says organisers ultimately held the event at The Grizzly Rose. Unjected predicted a crowd might be 10 times bigger than at the previous Grizzly Rose event. DII has not seen independent confirmation of attendance.

A repeat pattern and a pending lawsuit

In May, Recess Beer Garden in Denver cancelled a 29 May Unjected mixer, saying it had not organised, sponsored or booked it. Unjected moved that event to The Grizzly Rose too. Hosana sued Recess on 27 May in US District Court in Colorado, seeking more than $4 million from each defendant, according to Westword and the Denver Gazette. Several defendants filed a motion on 13 October to dismiss an amended complaint, which the Denver Gazette said was still pending as of 24 October.

Several defendants filed a motion on 13 October to dismiss an amended complaint, which the Denver Gazette said was still pending as of 24 October.

Watch that ruling, and whether the multi-state tour Unjected announced in May finds venues willing to sign contracts. Westword said it had not heard back from Unjected or The Golden Mill at the time of writing.

  • Unjected's secret-location model leaves it exposed when venues say they never agreed to host, as The Golden Mill did on 23 October.
  • The Grizzly Rose has now been Unjected's fallback venue twice in 2026, per the Denver Gazette.
  • The motion to dismiss in Hosana v. Recess Beer Garden is the next formal development.
