- Fledge announced on 2 November 2026 that it is launching in New York City, its first US market.
- The app uses a Big Five-based questionnaire to produce a short list of matches, plus a ribbon-colour test for offline events.
- Fledge claims over 1 million registered members worldwide; the figure is self-reported.
- Its 27% serious-relationship stat comes from the founders' earlier platform, not Fledge.
Fledge, a compatibility-based dating app operated by Fleamily, Inc., said on 2 November that it is launching in New York City, its first US market. The pitch pairs Big Five personality matching with offline "World Connection Day" events, aimed at members tired of endless swiping.
The timing is notable. Match Group (MTCH) reported Q3 results the same day, and DII has already covered its Tinder user figures.
The DII Take
Personality-led matching and real-world events are not new ideas, and Fledge has not shown that its version works in the US. What is interesting is the direction: a start-up and the incumbents are converging on offline formats. Fledge needs evidence from New York, not Europe, to be taken seriously.
What New York members get
According to the company, sign-up involves a personality questionnaire built partly on the Big Five traits, alongside questions about what members want in a relationship. Rather than an unlimited stream of profiles, Fledge turns those answers into a small set of suggested matches.
The company is also adding an in-app compatibility test that gives each member a ribbon colour reflecting their communication style, so that well-matched people can find each other at in-person events. Fledge describes this as the start of an effort to become the first dating app designed around offline meetups. No event dates, locations or pricing were given.
New York is Fledge's first US market. Los Angeles, San Francisco and Miami are next, then other major US cities.

Borrowed numbers
Fledge says it has over 1 million registered members globally. It was founded in 2026, and the founders' previous platform, which the release does not name, has operated across Europe and the CIS since 2021. The company says that platform has registered more than 20 million users.
The outcome data also comes from that earlier product. Fledge cites a July 2026 survey of people who deleted their profiles, in which 27% of respondents who went on a date said they entered a serious relationship. All of it is company-reported. Fleamily's own site lists the company as "Now Raising (SERIES A)".
Val Klimov, Fledge's founder and CSO, said: 'Now we're bringing Fledge to New York to help more people find the person who makes them want to delete the app.'
What to watch
The opening for a challenger is real. Bumble (BMBL) reported Q2 paying users down 16.4% to 3.2 million, and Match Group's Q2 payers fell 6% to 13.25 million. Fledge says it intends to pursue independent research partnerships. Watch for those, and for event dates.
- Fledge's US entry rests on unverified, self-reported figures, and its outcome data comes from a previous platform, so New York results will be the first real test.
- Match Group has said early Tinder Events results show it is building the right features, so Fledge's offline push meets incumbents moving the same way.
