• Bored of Dating Apps (BODA) holds its Boston launch on Thursday 19 November, 7:00pm to 11:00pm, at Rochambeau, 900 Boylston St. Entry is 21+.
  • NBC Boston reported on 29 October that the first Boston event is in November and tickets were still available.
  • BODA's Los Angeles launch is set for 5 November, two weeks earlier.
  • Match Group's payers fell 6% year on year to 13.3 million in Q2 2026.

Bored of Dating Apps (BODA), a UK-founded offline singles brand, is launching in Boston with a ticketed "Anti-Dating App Singles Night" at Rochambeau on Thursday 19 November, according to its event page. NBC Boston reported on 29 October that BODA is about to launch in the city, with the first event in November and tickets still available.

BODA bills the evening as a one-night takeover of the venue with cocktails, wine, beer and music. The format excludes apps, algorithms, speed dating and name tags. Hosts it calls 'professional wingwomen and wingmen' introduce guests, and BODA says over 95% of guests come solo and that tickets are expected to sell out.

The DII Take

The pitch is simple and well timed: sell the thing apps are accused of failing to deliver, which is a room full of people. But a single night at a bar is a small business, and BODA's sell-out and wedding claims are its own. NBC describes a launch, not a recurring series, so Boston only becomes interesting if it returns.

App fatigue gives the pitch an easy opening

Match Group (MTCH) reported Q2 2026 revenue of $853M, down 1%, with payers down 6% to 13.3 million and revenue per payer up 6% to $21.13, according to its 8-K. Zacks, via Yahoo Finance, put Tinder payers at 8.5 million, down 5%.

CNN reported on 4 August that a Forbes survey of 5,000 Americans found 80% of Millennials and 79% of Gen Z feel burned out by dating apps. The incumbents know it: CNN also reported that Tinder added an Events tab in March 2026, and DII has covered Tinder Events heading to London.

NBC's piece also features Stoop Dating, a Boston blind-date show whose founder, Julz Radly, says she has received thousands of applications. Jessica Evans of BODA told NBC: 'We like it when humans human and chat and flirt with each other. We don't need an algorithm, sometimes all you need is eye contact.'

What to watch

BODA's Los Angeles launch at Covell on 5 November comes first, and an event listing says its US push began with a Brooklyn social in August. Match Group reports Q3 results on 2 November after market close, per its 12 October announcement, with revenue guidance of $885M to $895M.

  • BODA has held or scheduled events in Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Boston within about three months, so repeat dates in each city will show whether this is a business or a string of launch parties.
  • Match Group's Q3 payer count on 2 November is the cleaner test of whether offline alternatives are denting app subscriptions.
