About Stitch

Stitch (stitch.net) is a members-only online community for people aged 50 and over, covering friendship, group activities and romantic companionship. TechCrunch reported in October 2015 that the company was headquartered in Australia. It was a spinout of Tapestry, a tablet product for seniors in retirement communities, and was part of 500 Startups' ninth batch. TechCrunch named Marcie Rogo as co-founder and reported a 1 million dollar seed round raised in August 2015. At that point it had 20,000 active members and a 60 dollar annual premium tier.

The Stitch website now describes the service as having been focused on helping older adults find companionship since 2014. It names Andrew Dowling as community founder and says the service has more than 400,000 members, a free Limited membership and paid Full membership options. These are company claims. The site says every member must pass a verification check before communicating with others, and that it received the United Nations 2024 WSIS Healthy Aging Innovation Prize.

Dating Industry Insights described Stitch in March 2026 as operating in the UK, Australia and the US, combining dating with friendship matching and requiring video verification for all members. DII compared it with Lumen, another over-50s app that uses photo verification.
