About Omi

Omi is a swipe-based dating and social app for finding dates, casual hangouts and friendships. Its App Store listing, titled Omi: Date & Meet Friends, names the seller as MatchUp UK Limited and links to the website omi.sg. The app is available in English, Indonesian, Malay, Simplified Chinese, Thai and Traditional Chinese, and lists features including MBTI compatibility matching, Blind Date, daily quizzes and photo verification.

Coverage describes Omi as popular in several Asian countries, mainly in Southeast Asia. A January 2024 press release issued under the name Wink Tech Pte Ltd described Omi as a prominent dating app in Southeast Asia, so the operating entity has been reported under more than one name.

In August 2026 Omi said around 60 per cent of its users had completed facial verification. The company says verification is optional because of legal and privacy considerations, that users who skip it may face feature restrictions and be treated as higher risk, and that those who pass receive a badge. Global Dating Insights, citing New Straits Times reporting of police data, says 85 cases involving Omi led to losses of RM8.43 million, within a wider RM32.7 million lost by 462 Malaysians to dating-platform scams in the four years to June 2026. Oskar Levin, chief information security officer of MatchUp UK Ltd, said human-operated scam accounts are hard to detect.
