Biography
Shigeru Ishizaka is the founder of IBJ, Inc., a Japanese company that runs a marriage agency platform, a directly operated marriage agency, events and a matchmaking app business. IBJ is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market under code 6071 and is based in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
He began his career at The Industrial Bank of Japan, now Mizuho Bank. In 2001 he became President and Representative Director of Bridal Net, Inc., and in 2006 he founded IBJ and became its President and Representative Director. According to IBJ's website he was appointed Representative Director and Chairman in 2026, and Kenjiro Tsuchiya is listed as Representative Director and President.
In a September 2026 Dating Industry Insights story, which refers to him as IBJ's CEO, he is reported as saying that IBJ's growth shows young Japanese people have not abandoned marriage but have rejected the existing routes to it.
