Biography
Lee Mullen is the founder of TUGG, an AI-powered dating platform based in Tyrone, Northern Ireland. He describes the idea as coming from frustration with dating apps that let users move from swiping to messaging without establishing whether they are suited to each other.
TUGG aims to assess dating goals, relationship intentions, communication styles and values, going beyond photos and basic profile details. Its roughly five-minute compatibility assessment produces a personalised compatibility archetype.
In August 2026, Global Dating Insights reported that TUGG was in the prototype and discovery stage and had not launched. Beta testing was still ahead, with no date given. Mullen was working on the platform, brand and potential partnerships, and the article says he was speaking with potential collaborators and investors. No funding has been disclosed. TUGG is being developed in Northern Ireland first, and Mullen has ambitions to expand internationally.
Dating Industry Insights covered TUGG in August 2026, questioning whether its AI compatibility claim goes beyond a conventional quiz.
