Dating Industry Insights reports that Disney made Anand its first chief technology officer from 2 October 2026. Disney said several Character.AI technical staff were expected to follow him.
The move came days before Character Technologies filed for Chapter 11 in the US Bankruptcy Court in Delaware on 12 October 2026. Disney is the stalking-horse bidder, offering $20M for a non-exclusive, perpetual licence to the company's intellectual property. In September 2025 Disney had sent Character.AI a cease-and-desist letter over the use of its characters.
