Biography
Carsten Böltz is chief executive of Online Personals Group, a dating company whose brands Dating Industry Insights lists as C-Date, be2, Academic Singles, Singles50 and eDarling. All of the brands run on a single platform, which allows features to be rolled out across the portfolio without rebuilding infrastructure for each. DII reported in September 2026 that the group is profitable and that it had acquired eDarling from Spark Networks earlier that year.
According to DII, Böltz has spent 21 years in the industry. At a Global Dating Insights conference he argued that there is sustainable margin in serving older demographics with products that do not try to compete with Tinder on volume. He also revisited predictions he made at the IDEA Summit in 2022 about mergers and acquisitions, saying that private equity involvement had been limited, that strategic buyers had made selective acquisitions and that no wave of dating company mergers had materialised.
Böltz is also a contributor to Dating App: How to Build, Survive and Thrive in the World's Most Challenging Industry, a book by HubPeople chief executive Michael O'Sullivan published in July 2026, alongside Markus Frind, David Vermeulen, Matthew Gain, Lydia Hoey and Zackary Lewis.
