Biography
Alex Durrant is co-founder and chief executive of Jigsaw Dating, formerly called JigTalk. TechCrunch reported in February 2021 that he and Max Adamski, co-founder and chief product officer, started the company in 2016 while at university. The app launched in London in 2019 and began as a dating product that hid profile photos behind jigsaw puzzles to reduce superficiality.
In February 2021 Jigsaw raised £2.7 million, about $3.7 million, in seed funding led by The Relationship Corp., with angel investors, to fund expansion in the United States. At that time it said it had about 150,000 registered users across the UK and US.
In 2026 Durrant announced on stage at the Global Dating Insights conference in New York that Jigsaw had moved from an app-first business to one built around in-person events. Dating Industry Insights reported in June 2026 that the company runs more than 200 events a month across over 30 US cities and describes itself as America's largest organiser of in-person dating events. It has dropped its puzzle mechanic and algorithmic matching, and says it uses AI only for internal logistics, not member-facing features.
