In 2022 Rose spoke about what he called 'dating app misrepresentation', the problem IRLY's conversation prompts, compatibility signals and profile games were designed to address, according to Dating Industry Insights. At the start of 2023 the app was pre-launch and the news that internet personality Cameron Dallas had joined the team brought it wider attention. In February 2026 DII reported that DUA AG, a Swiss group of youth-oriented dating brands, had acquired the Vancouver-based app in an undisclosed all-cash deal.
